Our Message

Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department has been providing quality service to the citizens of Brooklyn and West Hants since 1962. Our department consists of ninety six members, Eleven fire Apparatus and two stations. We also respond to an average of 400+ emergency calls per year. Our mission is to provide quality service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year to the citizens of West Hants.

Becoming a volunteer firefighter with Brooklyn fire; Volunteer firefighters perform serious and dangerous tasks. We respond to house fires, wild-land fires, motor vehicle accidents, ice water and swift water rescue as well as medical calls.

Becoming a volunteer requires dedication and drive to help your community and surrounding communities. The department requires each member to maintain a 20-20-20 attendance. This means attending 20% of calls, 20% of trainings and 20% of meetings. We hold trainings at both stations Monday night starting at 7pm. Our monthly meetings are held once a month at Brooklyn station 1. Calls will be answered 24 hours a day 7 days a week including holidays; our job never stops.

If you have the passion, drive and motivation to join our team please visit one of our two stations to pick up an application package. The station is open to the public 8-5 Monday- Friday.
